Legal Assistant - Family Law
We are seeking a dedicated and driven Legal Assistant to join our family law team. As an articling student at Mint Legal, you will be exposed to all aspects of family law practice and gain valuable, hands-on experience working alongside seasoned lawyers. This is an incredible opportunity to develop your skills in a highly supportive and rewarding environment.
Responsibilities
Communicate and liaise with clients, opposing lawyers, court staff
Draft basic legal documents for lawyer review
Manage calendar bookings
Assist lawyers in preparing for family law hearings, mediations, and arbitrations
Collect sensitive client information, and update the digital file accordingly
Manage files and maintain organized documentation.
Qualifications
Completion of a Legal Assistant diploma is an asset but not required
Eligible to work in Canada
Strong interest in family law, including divorce, custody, support, and related matters
Excellent communication skills
Strong organizational and time management abilities
Exceptionally high attention to detail
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Empathy and professionalism when interacting with clients facing emotional and sensitive situations
A commitment to continuous learning and growth

Junior Lawyer - Family Law
1-3 Year Call
We are seeking a Junior Lawyer to join our family law team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated lawyer to gain hands-on experience in a supportive environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in family law and a desire to grow their skills in litigation, client management, and case strategy.
Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of family law matters, including divorce, custody, and support cases.
Draft legal documents, including pleadings, affidavits, and separation agreements.
Represent clients in family law hearings, mediations, and negotiations.
Provide legal advice to clients on family law issues.
Qualifications
1-3 years of experience in family law (or recent call to the bar)
Membership with the Law Society of Alberta or ability to obtain membership
Strong oral advocacy skills and comfortability and competency in court setting
Well developed research and drafting skills
Compassionate and client-focused approach
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Compensation commensurate with experience.
